Heather Moreno is a Certified Public Accountant, a self-employed businesswoman and serves on the Atascadero City Council. Since moving to Atascadero in 2004, she’s been extremely involved in the community, promoting a positive business climate and protecting homeowners’ rights.
Heather became an Atascadero City Council Member in 2012, following service on the Atascadero Planning Commission from 2008-2010, serving as chairperson in 2010. On Council, Heather serves as Chairperson of the Finance Committee and as Public Sector Liaison Representative for the Economic Vitality Corporation. She was Mayor Pro Tem in 2015-2016.
On Council, Heather advocates for a strong local economy, fiscal stewardship, and protecting Atascadero’s local control. She knows that our thriving volunteer spirit and strong community partnerships are key to making Atascadero a vibrant City. A committed volunteer and community member, Heather dedicates many hours to organizations such as the El Camino Homeless Organization, Friends of the Atascadero Library, and Atascadero Lighthouse. She also serves on the board of the Central Coast California chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners.
Moreno earned her BA degree in Accounting from California State University, Fullerton and was employed as a CPA by KPMG, one of the “Big Four” international accounting firms, until she decided to strike out on her own. Today, Heather owns a health and wellness consulting firm and in 2013 she earned her Master’s degree from Fuller Theological Seminary.
In her spare time Heather enjoys keeping fit, reading, and dancing (thank you Dancing With our Stars!). She is married to Mike Moreno, her husband of 17 years, and when she’s lucky, Mike dances with her!
